Rare Overcoat of Yao handicraft, made in raw silk.
The Yao people, also known as Mien or Dao, are en ethnic minority living in the mountainous regions of the Southern part of China and in the North of Vietnam.
The hand-embroidered pattern, almost naive, is typical and represents the traditional Dragon Festival: the Dragon was worshipped by the ancient local people, including the Yaos, who still see it as their ancestor and guardian.
