I cimbali, insieme agli strumenti a fiato, vengono suonati in riti specifici, ed a seconda del tipo di lega e spessore il loro suono può risultare molto diverso. I più piccoli di diametro – che creano un suono più delicato – vengono utilizzati in cerimonie indirizzate a divinità pacate, mentre quelli di dimensione maggiore con un timbro più accentuato, sono percossi durante riti destinati a calmare gli dei adirati.

The cymbals, along with the wind instruments, are played in specific rites and depending on the type of alloy and thickness of the metal their sound can be very different. Cymbals smaller in diameter – that create a more delicate sound – are used in ceremonies addressed to pacific deities, while those of larger size with a more marked stamp are played during rituals designed to appease angry gods.
The different vibrations that can range from these simple tools help achieve certain mental stages during meditation and prayers recited by the monks.
