The Triskele, commonly found in the late Celtic art, is thought to have some Roman influence, examples are also found in the native art of Ireland and Scotland. It is thought to represent the three realms of Celtic lore, the past, the present and the future. It is survived well into the Christian period, because it could also be considered to represent the Holy Trinity.
